Insulated running pants provide extra warmth without overheating - Reading Eagle

The pants are thin and comfortable against the skin.

Written by Jeff Banowetz

Winter running brings all kinds of challenges, but one of the biggest is managing your temperature as your body heats up in the cold weather.

For some runners, that means snug fitting tights, which do a good job of protecting you from the wind, and when it isn't too cold, you manage fine.

But when the temperature drops or you're not running at top speed, they often don't offer enough insulation.

The Brooks Threshold Pant is an insulated running pant that provides the extra warmth you need while still keeping you from overheating.

They're still thin, which makes them more comfortable to run in than traditional sweatpants, and the DriLayer Threshold Fabric is comfortable against the skin.

You'll find two pockets in the waistband — one that's waterproof — to carry your phone, keys or cash.

They're loose fitting, for those who don't want the look of tights, yet they are still tapered closely enough to the legs to avoid looking bulky.

The Threshold Pant is a good item for any cold-weather runner to have ready in their closet — you'll have one less excuse for staying inside.

$90 for women's; $100 for men's,
