Downtown Fresno vintage thrift store burglarized - KMPH Fox 26

Showroom of Thrift Demon vandalized (Courtesy by Thrift Demon)

A Downtown Fresno store owner is in shock right now. That's after thousands of dollars' worth of vintage clothing was stolen just months after it grand opening. It happened Tuesday night at the Thrift Demon on the corner of Fulton and Broadway in downtown Fresno.

Owner, Jose Perez says he found the showroom destroyed. He says someone broke into the front store window to gain an entry. He says he thinks the thief or thieves knew exactly what they wanted.

"They just went out the front door and left the front doors open. They left the front doors open and we believe the homeless or who knows got themselves a free jacket. People just started coming through. I feel that nobody was aware because of the amount that was taken they probably took anywhere to 50 to 75 percent of the store. Mainly all of the good stuff," said Perez.

Cardboard now covers his broken front window. Perez says it took him several hours to get things up and running. Perez says is working on getting a video surveillance system installed in the shop soon.
