PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The countdown is on for a fashion event that looks to be an evening of style and grace, all while changing the lives of Philadelphia youth.
"We have to support our children," said Fatimah Gamble.
She is the co-founder of Universal Companies, alongside her husband and super producer Kenny Gamble.
The couple's organization runs several charter schools, own property in South Philadelphia and run programs that transform the lives of area youth.
"From Boys II Men program, as well as Pearls of Wisdom, which is an etiquette, social grace and character building program," she said.
For the past six years, Gamble has produced “An Evening of Style and Grace Fashion Show Benefit” to support the programs, as well as, the Universal Audenried High School Culinary Program.
These events bring in celebrity models, like Bernard Hopkins, and local boutiques like My Little Redemption, in Old City. This fashion forward social event looks to showcase the youth who have participated in these programs.
"There are so many negative connotations about our kids, but this is extraordinary," she said.
The event takes place December 6 at Universal Audenried High School. Details about the event can be found at universalfashionshow.org.
